Required Supplies:
Necessary Supplies & Tools in the Workshop
- Cotton Thread (☆) - Any thread is fine but this is our Recommendation.
- Needle (☆) (Recommendation) - Any Needle is fine but this is our Recommendation
- Several Swatch of Fabric: Please cut to about 4” x 4”. (No bigger than 7” x 10” and no smaller than 3” x 3”) (☆) - Any Cotton Fabric would be fine, but this fabric is our recommendation for Sashiko including Hitomezashi. Preparing several kinds of fabric would be a good idea just in case that the fabric you bring do not work well.
- Chalk pencil and/or fabric marker (☆) - please bring the one which you can draw on the fabric you will bring. The recommendation would be "fine point", or bring pencil sharpner with you.
- US Letter Size Card Stock with 5mm Grid Pattern Printed (☆) - Preferably the card stock thickness of 199 GSM or more. Please bring several copies if possible.
- Masking Tape
- A Ruler with the size of longer than the fabric you prefer (if it is longer than 10”, it would be sufficient).
- Snips / Scissors
Optional Supplies
- Thimble (☆)
- Basting Thread
- Pencil Sharpener for Chalk Pencil
- Threader
- Extra Card Stock Paper (or just printing paper) with Grid printed on.
- Any tools to make your stitching comfortable.
- Garment you want to stitch swatch on, and/or garment you want to stitch directly.
Note about the Supplies & Tools
- Items with (☆) are a part of Optional Supply Package you can purchase on Atsushi’s website. Once you purchased it, you do not need to bring them (You can of course bring your own items to try more). The package can be picked up with the Claim Ticket Atsushi will send.
- 3 types of Grid (5mm, 4mm, and 3mm) are available to download via link on handouts. We mainly use 5mm grid - but preparing for the 4mm and 3mm on Cardstock is a good idea.
